2012 Season Review for Owen Carlson

2012 was a season of working more on smoother driving and trying different things. In July I turned 9 and therefore, had to move from the junior classes to the senior classes. That being said, I didn’t run enough races in any one class (with the exception of Light 160) to be a points contender. We knew this going into the season, so I was prepared.

I traveled many different places to race including a back-to-back weekend of traveling in March. First to Texas, the next weekend we were off to Georgia, then to Nashville – where I won the USAC race and a cool guitar, and then the following weekend we were in Indiana to race on the dirt.

We also went to Michigan for the QMA Eastern Grands which was an awesome experience. We also took our annual trip to the Shorey Shootout in Springfield, Illinois sponsored by ALQMA.

I ended the season very well. In all, during 2012 I raced Junior Honda, Junior Animal, Senior Animal, Senior Honda, and Light 160. I ended up finishing 3rd in season points in the Light 160 class. The other classes, I didn’t have enough races in (due to my age change). I got a lot seat time which is all I want to do.
